The BPRA are currently pursuing the option to remove FirstPort as managing agent and appoint a new reputable company to assist in maintaining the development.
We are looking to establish a residents director group for both Edenwood and Copse and Firs.
There are a number of benefits associated with a change of managing agent which include:
- Establishing a new way of working with the managing agent. The managing agent will be held accountable by resident directors whom would be privy to development finances and provide approval for large scale works.
- The managing agent would have to seek approval from residents for large scale works and expenditure.
- Regular meetings would be offered for all residents to voice concerns or issues.
- A renewed sense of purpose for managing the development
- Other benefits such as regular newsletters or communications
At present your service charge is paid and then spent however FirstPort deem fit – wouldn’t you like to have a bit more say in where your money goes?
As the development ages there will be progressively more work that needs completing or areas requiring maintenance. Now is the time to foster a new relationship and ensure Bexley Park remains well maintained in future years.
Won’t this cost me more?
The management costs will reduce per household and we hope to see better communication and accountability at the same time.
We estimate that service charge demands will remain wholly similar but hope to achieve more for the development in terms of works completed.
What can I do to help?
The BPRA are looking for more volunteers (particularly from residents in Edenwood) to help move this piece of work forward.
We have already approached a number of candidates and have identified a potential new agent. We will be looking to meet with them on site in due course.
Next steps once we have met with the new managing agent is to pursue the ballot required to show the developments intent to no longer work with FirstPort and appoint a new agent.
